FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do you bill?

Usually based on time spent; fixed budgets are available for clearly defined projects. Before an engagement begins, you receive an estimate of the expected scope of work.

Is the first conversation free of charge?

The introductory call is without obligation and free of charge: you outline your matter, we run a conflict check and assess whether and how we can genuinely support you. Legal advice begins once we are engaged.

Do you work across Germany?

Yes. We are based in Berlin and around 90 percent of our work is done remotely. The introductory call usually takes place by video call; we attend notarisations and negotiations wherever they happen.

Do you act for buyers and sellers?

Both – but never on the same transaction. We advise buyers and sellers, startups and investors. Knowing both sides helps at the negotiating table.

How quickly can you start?

We can usually accommodate a short-notice project start. It helps if you let us know the timeline of your matter right away.

How confidential is my enquiry?

Attorney-client confidentiality applies from the first contact – whether or not an engagement follows. In transaction and succession situations, discretion towards employees, customers and the market is part of how we work.

Do you advise in English?

Yes. Advice and transaction documentation in German or English, including within the same transaction.
